Next, Kamala Harris Should Announce Her Full Cabinet
The hype about VP pick Walz was intense. Team Harris and the media had been teasing Kamala’s VP announcement almost hourly since Joe Biden stood down and she consolidated party support, seemingly overnight. Headlines tease; they provoke; they bait. They have us all at the edge of our seat. Last week’s announcement that Governor Tim Walz would join the Democratic ticket was a Big Moment, intentionally built by a diligent drum.
Perhaps the Democratic Party has learned how to truly roll out a tease. Maybe they finally understand that Trump turned the electing of our president into a reality show eight years ago. It is about time they play the game, too. TV rule number one: new and big information cannot just be blurted out. It can’t just be announced. That’s so 20th century. It must make us lean in. We have to want to see. We have to want to click, need to click. It must be accompanied by not only a climactic bang but by weeks of prognostication. The king and queen’s court — and all throughout the land — must be abuzz simply dying to know who it will be.
